Koyana Dam, Chiplun

Kaas Pathar, Panchgani
Kaas Plateau, popularly pronounced as Kaas Pathar, is a deep fiery volcanic reddish soil located in Satara. Kaas Plateau is nearby from Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar; one of the top places to visit in Satara.
Declared as the UNESCO World Natural Heritage sites of India in 2012, Kaas Plateau in Panchgani is a magical place with landscapes with lakes, flowers and butterflies all around. Kaas Plateau is a biodiversity hotspot situated at a mighty altitude of 1200 metres and is a major biodiversity hotspot owing to the many varieties of endemic flowers and butterflies that are found here. Housing about 850 species of beautiful wildflowers, the 1000 hectare area of the plateau is now a reserved forest which is famous for its natural beauty and flora, Kaas Lake and how it turns into a valley of flowers during monsoon.Recently, the place has started gathering a bit of tourist rush and popularity for all the natural treasures that it holds.
Mayani Bird Sanctuary, Satara
If you are a bird lover, then Mayani Bird Sanctuary is the place you cannot afford to miss out while exploring all other famous places to visit in Satara. Built during the regime of the British Empire, this sanctuary has more than 400 types of birds and species. Regarded as one of India’s most prominent bird sanctuaries, Mayani is a paradise for ornithologists who often come here to study different species of flora and fauna. You can also find a lot of herbal and medicinal plants flourishing here.
Thoseghar Falls, Satara
Thoseghar waterfalls are what you should never lose here. Being the most popular waterfall, it is one of the highest falls in India, and also the most visited fall in Maharashtra.
The stunning Thoseghar Falls are located near the village of Thoseghar at a distance of 20 km from the city of Satara in Maharashtra. The Thoseghar Falls are a series of waterfalls with some falls as high as 15-20m, whereas, the highest fall plummeting from a height of 200m.
Ajinkyatara fort, Satara
Quite widely pronounced as the fort of Satara, Ajinkyatara fort is completely visible from any corner of Satara City. Ajinkya fort is the fourth popular capital of Maharashtra which has frequent visitors and tourists as well, which is one of the hills from the seven hills in the region.
Raja Bhoj constructed Ajinkyatara Fort on one of the Sahyadri mountains which consist of seven mountain ranges, that was built in the 16th century. The elevation of this fort is 3,300 feet. It was initially named after the son of Aurangzeb, Ajim. The name of this fort was changed from ‘Ajimtara’ to ‘Ajinkyatara’ by Narayan Hari Apte, a Marathi Novelist. It is the most historic place in Maharashtra and one of the best tourist spots in the district of Satara.
Lord Natraj, Satara
Lord Natraj, popularly known for embodying Lord Shiva, who is known for his Rudra Tandava art of Dance in the Hindu Mythology. The Nataraja Temple is solely dedicated to Lord Shiva for his Tandava Performance as Lord Nataraja.
As it is a replica of Chidambaram temple in Tamil Nadu (also referred to as Sri Natraj Temple), it is also known by the name Uttara Chidambaram Temple. Natraj, a depiction of Lord Shiva as a divine dancer, is the deity of this site. The temple is located along the national highway 4, which connects the towns of Solapur and Satara, and is one of the most famous religious sites of attraction in the area. The Natraj Mandir was situated way back in the year of 1985 and continues to attract tourists from around the country till date due to its remarkable architecture, and the serene ambience it provides.
